Endodontics

Endodontics

Endodontics is the treatment of root canals, this corresponds to all therapy that is practiced in the dentine-pulp complex of a tooth; that is, the dental pulp, which is the deep part of the tooth and is made up of nerves and blood vessels. Endodontics is applied to fractured teeth, with deep cavities or lesions in the pulp tissue (loose connective tissue) in which characteristic pulpitis symptoms occur (Classification of pulp lesions).

What symptoms or conditions does endodontics treat?

If you present any of the following symptoms you should immediately request an appointment with an endodontic specialist.

  • Tooth discoloration
  • Dark teeth
  • Fractured Teeth
  • Deep cavities
  • Pain when eating hot or cold foods in teeth with cavities
  • If you ever see the tooth suffered a trauma or fracture and has not yet recovered

You must keep in mind that in many cases teeth that have cavities do not hurt; if they are not treated in time, they can cause irreversible lesions in the pulp. In the past when a tooth had a diseased pulp it was extracted, today; Thanks to Endodontics, the tooth is treated through a pulpotomy, which restores the pulp, thus saving the tooth and avoiding its extraction as much as possible.
